In its submission to the consultation on the Climate Action Plan Renewable Energy Ireland has called for the plan to set out a pathway to show how Ireland gets to a carbon-neutral energy system by 2050.
“It is imperative that we front-load efforts to achieve our climate action targets in the early years of this decade, if we are to have any chance of achieving our stated policy objectives,” said REI Chairperson Dr Tanya Harrington.
“We believe Ireland can be a climate change success story. The development of renewable energy will not only decarbonise our society but will drive our economic recovery and ensure a just transition for citizens, communities and businesses.”
